Knowing the temperature of your roast is a key to greater repeatability of your roast profile. Whether you are able to measure bean temperature, or hot air temperature, you can use a basic thermometer/thermocouple probe to make notes and, ideally, reproduce roast results. With the low price of this unit, it’s a great low cost way to add temperature measurement to your roast method.

But … and this is a big but (lol), this only reads in Celsius scale, so you need to put on your metric hat to use it. (Yes I tried, they don’t make a Fahrenheit version). See our other thermometer option for a Farenhiet unit (related product below).

A flexible thermocouple can be added to everything from a popcorn popper, to a Behmor to a Freshroast. Exactly how you do that, and whether you will be able to probe the beans directly, or the ambient roast chamber temperature is something to figure out though! Also, a probe needs to be fixed in position - if it moves around when roasting it’s not going to be accurate.
