Zambia

Formerly known as upper Rhodesia, Zambia is now named for the Zambezi river. Zambian coffees range from Kenya-like brightness, to more subtle, balanced coffees with complexity and body. When we have Zambia coffee to offer, it has clearly passed our test for cup quality. Distinct from other African origins, Zambia coffees are from larger farms, not small-holder coops. Coffee came later here than other African coffee-growing nations as well, in the 1950s. Originally planted with Bourbon, Catimor was introduced later. Now most coffees will have both varieties.
