Colombia Timaná Finca El Porvenir

Farm Description

Finca El Porvenir is a small-holder farm in the Timaná region. You've probably noticed quite a few coffees from Timaná on our list this year. We're happy to be working with a cooperative in the main town who have organized many of the small-holders in the surrounding Veradas (villages, more or less), paying an extremely competitive price for coffee cherry, and providing much needed benefits to farmers and their family in order to help maximize coffee quality and production, as well as the livelihood of their families. Add to this the fact that there seems to be a good amount of really nice coffees in the highlands (mostly Caturra and some Varieded Colombia), and we have ourselves a really great situation to be a part of.

This coffee is part of our Farm Gate pricing program.

Cupping Notes

The dry fragrance has a honey sweetness, and a butter/sugar smell like shortbread. Full City roasts have a bit of fruit up front too, dried fig and unsulphured apricots, along with a note of cinnamon stick. The wet grounds are much more fruited, wafts of raspberry and baked apple coming up in the steam, a dense honey and peach note on the break. This is a really nice crowd-pleasing Colombia. Body is so juicy, accompanied by a simple-syrup and even honey flavor, and topped with well-defined apple juice acidity. Full City roasts have background notes of dark fruit - plum and red grape - and a high dark cacao flavor in the finishFinca El Porvenir is an extremely versatile coffee, keeping up appearances from City to Roasted Coffee Pictorial Guide. ">Full City+ roasts, brews well, and makes a great espresso.
