We have some scheduled site maintenance to take care of, so our shopping cart will be down for about an hour starting at 6am PST on Wed. 10/17. You can still window shop...you just won't be able to buy anything until around 7am. Sorry for the trouble and thanks for your patience.
This lot is a nice alternative to the fruity Brasil coffees we have had in the past. The cup has milk chocolate malt flavor, dense mouthfeel, hazelnut, and pecan. It's a great coffee as an SO espresso or as an espresso blend base. City+ to Full City+.
This lot of certified Organic coffee from Fazenda Colina is a nice alternative to the fruity organic Brasil coffees we have had in the past. One might remember the Poco Fundo and others that had that distinct dried fruit taste. It's a nice quality, but hints at drying defects can make the coffee very difficult to use in espresso. I was really happy with the balance and sweetness of this coffee. While not incredibly complex, it has remarkable body, a dense mouthfeel in both brewed coffee and espresso. Fazenda Colina is in Patrocinio area of Minas Gerais. Situated at an altitude 970 meters, the farm is 78 hectares of land, of which 45 are dedicated to coffee. They have been producing organic coffee since 2007.
This is one of the nicest, cleanest, most balanced dry-processed Brazils we have had as of late. The fragrance from the dry grounds is caramelly, with pecans, malt and milk chocolate. The wet aromatics from the cup are in the same vein, caramel, browning sugar, buttery, less nuttyness. The cup is an marriage of roast flavors, nut and chocolate, and a dense mouthfeel. Hazelnut and pecan are present in the City+ roast, but they fade into milk chocolate malt flavor at Full City roast levels. As the cup cools, the finish can be slightly dry and slightly earthy at City roast, but more chocolate and bittersweet at FC roast. It's a great coffee as an SO espresso or as an espresso blend base. Brasils like this don't score high in points because of their low acidity and soft cup flavors, but that's not reason not to try it!
