This lot is processed at Beneficio Buenavista, and is from one farm called Ocho Estrellas, Eight Stars. It has 4 hectares planted in coffee, and is situated on a slope ranging from 1300 to 1570 meters. Juan Ticona founded the farm in 1970. Together with 7 of his neighbors they formed a community that was called San Juan 8 Estrellas. 8 Estrellas is located 30 km outside of the village of Carnavi, in the Canton Entre Rios where Juan and his family live and work. They planted the farm entirely with Caturra cultivar, although they have both the red and yellow fruited types.
The dry fragrance is subtle and sweet, with peach, honey, raspberry jam, hawthorn flowers, and roasted almonds in the darker roast. The wet aroma is simple a straightforward, almond essence and a slight stone fruit scent. The delicate cup has a soft sweetness in the light roasts, with lemongrass tea, peach, cane sugar. Slightly darker roasts have more body, and more caramel and vanilla roast tones. Like many Bolivias, it is a fairly subtle coffee, but opens up greatly as it cools. The body increases, especially in the Full City roast, which has a silky milk chocolate roast taste.
