About The Shrub

We are not a traditional coffee importer, we like to think of ourselves as “Coffee Sorcerers”. Our offerings are a curated selection of unique coffees and we strive to offer variety and quality while providing valuable resources to help roasters achieve the best possible results in the cup and with the customer.

We aren’t a sales team ready to cold call you trying to sell “intergalactically amazing nano-lots”. Rather, we’re a group of cuppers, sourcers, roasters, logistics specialists, record collectors, anthropologists, poets, and most importantly enthusiastic coffee lovers offering you access to the relationships we’ve cultivated through the years with coffee farmers around the world, as well as a wealth of information about most things coffee.

Buying from Coffee Shrub is as easy as filling your online shopping cart and checking out, or if you need larger amounts we have terms available and full pallet discounts.

We sell green coffee in batches that equal roughly a bit less than 1/2 or 3/4 of a traditional jute bag packaged in Grain-Pro lined bags, either 50lbs. or 100lbs. Why 100lbs/45kg bags? Because they are easier to move! Some origins like Guatemala have moved to these smaller bags — and it makes the most sense in terms of bag size. Most of our offerings are shipped to us in Grain-Pro bags from origin. When we receive a coffee vacuum packed, we will resell it that way. You have the convenience of thorough, descriptive reviews as a starting point for your own tasting notes, and relevant information about the farms including images that you can use to promote the coffee.

The coffee reviews are authored primarily by Thompson Owen and Dan Wood. Christopher Schooley contributes regular Shrub articles, as well as moderates comments from roasters. Your orders are processed and prepared by our well-trained staff to ensure accurate and timely delivery with competitive shipping rates via either UPS (50 lbs.) or LTL Freight (100 lbs.).

Please look over our coffees and see if any of these offerings would complement your current list. If you have questions about specific coffees, you can email us directly and we’ll be happy to help in any way. As much as possible we want to create a community of roasters and provide encouragement to fledgling and established roasting businesses alike. Thank you for visiting Coffee Shrub.
